Pi Gate
A Raspberry Pi controller that connects physical buttons, a remote API, and relay control through an event stream for an existing garage-door mechanism.
Screenshot unavailable. The project description below explains the workflow.
Connect software to the physical world.
This project brings a physical control system into software without collapsing every responsibility into one script. Button sensing, API requests, and door control run as separate services connected by Redis events.
How it works
The button watcher distinguishes activation from an emergency-brake command. The controller handles relay state and travel timing, while the API provides a separate entry point for remote requests and monitoring.
Workflow example
- A physical button or API request produces a control event.
- The event stream passes the request to the door-control service.
- The controller updates relay and door state according to the command.
Project scope
A personal hardware integration, not a certified commercial safety controller. This page is an architectural walkthrough and does not connect to physical equipment.
